Christmas nativity scenes: how to choose by space and budget

· 5 min read · Christmas

How to choose a nativity for your space: Holy Family from $ 21.900, full sets from $ 38.900 (COP), LED-lit or mini, plus order deadlines.

White 3D printed nativity scene with two arches, the Holy Family, the Three Kings, shepherds and sheep, lit by an LED candle on a wooden table with tea lights and Christmas lights

You choose a Christmas nativity scene (in Colombia, a pesebre) by three things: where it will go, whether you want the full scene or just the Holy Family, and your budget. At Lío we 3D print them in Medellín and ship anywhere in Colombia: the Holy Family alone starts at $ 21.900, a full nativity with the Three Kings at $ 38.900, and pieces to complete the one you already have at $ 9.900 (prices in Colombian pesos, COP). To get it before December 24, order by December 9 (December 15 in Medellín); to have it set up for the novena, order in November.

Which nativity fits your space?

Measure the spot before you choose: height, width and depth.

  • Shelf, nightstand or desk: the Holy Family alone or a mini nativity.
  • Coffee table, sideboard or the corner where you pray the novena: a full nativity with the Three Kings, shepherds and animals.
  • Window or dark corner: a light-up nativity, lit by an LED candle.
  • The tree: a nativity ornament.
  • You already have one: single pieces to complete it.

Some product pages list the size, like the Japandi Holy Family with crib (about 10 cm tall) or the decorative nativity with arch and star (about 18 cm). If you need the size of another model, ask us on WhatsApp before ordering.

How much does a 3D printed nativity cost?

Store prices as of October 21, 2026, in Colombian pesos (COP). Shipping is calculated separately.

Type From To
Holy Family only $ 21.900 $ 96.900
Full nativity $ 38.900 $ 161.900
Light-up nativity $ 14.900 $ 67.900
Mini and tree ornaments $ 12.900 $ 25.900
Pieces to complete yours $ 9.900 $ 72.900

What does each type include?

Full. The minimalist nativity with arch and light ($ 45.900) has 11 figures on a base: the Holy Family, shepherds, the Three Kings and four animals, under an arch that glows with an LED candle. The minimalist nativity with arch and Three Kings ($ 76.900) brings together the Holy Family, the Kings and the animals under a large arch with a star. To make it with the kids, the colour-your-own nativity with stable ($ 38.900) arrives in white, ready to color with markers.

Holy Family only. It is the heart of every nativity, and you can add figures over the years. The Holy Family with arch and star ($ 32.900) is a simple centerpiece. The sweet Holy Family figures ($ 24.900) come as separate pieces: Mary, Joseph and the Child in his crib.

Light-up. They work with an LED tea light. For most of them it is sold separately; each product page says so. By day, the light-up nativity with hidden forest ($ 67.900) is a minimalist nativity; with the candle behind the stable, a pine forest appears under the star. There is also a small version ($ 14.900). The nativity silhouette for LED candle ($ 28.900) is a simple nativity for the novena. Always use LED candles, never real flames: PLA warps with heat.

Mini and for the tree. The nativity in a carved star ($ 12.900) fits on a shelf or nightstand. The nativity tree ornament ($ 15.900) hangs from a ribbon or stands on its own.

To complete yours. The rustic stable ($ 9.900), the Baby Jesus in the manger miniature ($ 10.900), the Baby Jesus cradle ($ 11.900), the minimalist Three Wise Men ($ 18.900) and the set of people and animal figures ($ 72.900), ready to paint by hand.

Do you place Baby Jesus on Christmas Eve?

In many Colombian homes, Baby Jesus is placed in the nativity on Christmas Eve, and the Three Kings start far away and move closer to the stable until January 6. If your family does this:

  • Choose a nativity with separate figures, like the sweet Holy Family figures or the Japandi Holy Family with crib, where the Child is a separate piece.
  • If your nativity is missing the Child, the Baby Jesus cradle and the Baby Jesus miniature are sold on their own.
  • One-piece sculptures, like the Holy Family embracing sculpture, show the Child from day one.

When do Colombians set up the nativity?

There is no single date, but these are the ones that shape December in Colombia:

  • Monday, December 7, Night of the Little Candles (Noche de las Velitas): the eve of the Immaculate Conception and, for many families, the start of Christmas. A good date to have the nativity ready. Lanterns and candle holders are in Little Candles Day.
  • Wednesday, December 16, to Thursday, December 24, the Christmas novena (novena de aguinaldos): families pray together in front of the nativity and sing carols.
  • Thursday, December 24: Christmas Eve.
  • January 6: Epiphany, the day of the Three Kings.

When should you order so it arrives on time?

  • Printing: 2 to 10 days depending on the nativity (each product page shows its time).
  • Shipping: with Coordinadora from Medellín, 1 to 3 business days. The cart shows the transit days for your town.
  • Rest of Colombia: order by Wednesday, December 9 to get it before the 24th.
  • Medellín: until Tuesday, December 15, with delivery or pickup arranged on WhatsApp.

If it is large or has many pieces, order at least a week ahead of those dates. And if you want it for the Night of the Little Candles or the first day of the novena, order in November.

How do we make them?

We print them in PLA on our Bambu Lab A2L and A1 mini printers. You choose the color on the product page: white, beige, sand, wood or terracotta, among others, depending on the model. The ones made for painting, like the people and animal figures or the colour-your-own nativity, arrive unpainted so you can add color at home.

Does it come painted? What color is it?

It is printed in the color you choose on the product page: white, beige, sand, wood or terracotta, among others, depending on the model. Can you complete the nativity I already have?

Can it go outdoors?

The product pages suggest them for indoors: the living room, a shelf or the table where you pray the novena. If you want one for a balcony, a front yard or any outdoor space, message us on WhatsApp before ordering.

Is the candle included?

For most light-up nativities the LED tea light is sold separately; each product page says so. Always use LED, never a real flame.
